Dr. Masaki Mine

Masaki Mine is a patent attorney from the Intellectual Property Office NEXPAT, and comes from Fukuoka in western Japan. He majored in physical chemistry and quantum chemistry at Tokyo University, and holds a PhD in Engineering from Kyushu University for the study of organic electronic devices such as organic solar cells.

While at graduate school, he was inspired by mentor Dr. Yasuyuki Fujimura, an environmental inventor, and decided to support inventive projects as a patent attorney,

for which he subsequently begun work in 2012. In this role he worked to support the acquisition of rights of patent, design, and trademark in Japan, the USA, EU, and other Asian countries, in order to defend clients' ideas, designs, and brands that were essential for their business projects. In addition he is proficient at translating patent documents between Japanese and English.

 

As one of the board members of the Local Entrepreneur School, a Japanese NPO corporate body, since 2009, Dr. Mine has spent time creating and spreading business models that strengthen human relationships. This includes a business model generation workshop held every month since 2012, that seeks to support both existing and prospective local entrepreneurs.
