Mr. John Kojiro Moriwaka

John Kojiro Moriwaka has served as Executive Vice President of Moriwaka Medical, a medical technology company based in Shimonoseki City, Japan, for nearly 5 years. In this role he has taken on management of marketing and public relations and has positioned the company as one of the leading providers of medical aid and technology in its wider surrounding region.

Mr. Moriwaka began his university studies at the University of Sydney in Australia, where he studied economics majoring in marketing and human resource management. He then began working in the fields of publicity and marketing in Sydney before returning to Japan to join Moriwaka Medical. While working in his role at the company he undertook studies at the Harvard Business School Executive Education “Program for Leadership Development” (PLD), and achieved alumni status at Harvard University in 2013.

One of Mr. Moriwaka's main projects is his "Innovation Forest" ("IF") concept, whereby leading experts from various fields are brought together under one organization to combine their skills and knowledge to take innovation to a new level. Despite its relative infancy the project has already attracted members from leading international universities along with medical experts, lawyers, and other professionals.

Mr. Moriwaka is often invited to leading universities, hospitals, and organizations to give lectures on business management, medical innovation, and medical tourism. He regularly organizes seminars on business management, and has hosted numerous international business networking events around Japan.

He also represents Moriwaka Medical in its various charitable activities, such as through the donation of medical equipment to the local community, and participation in Japan-based NGO's who provide similar donations in Vietnam. Additionally, he supervises the Moriwaka Fund through which disadvantaged students in Vietnam are given scholarships in order to make possible their studies in the field of medicine.

In conjunction with his role at Moriwaka Medical, Mr. Moriwaka also serves as CMO & Global Manager of the business consulting firm Dream Act Inc., which runs the incubation center BASES in Fukuoka City. Mr. Moriwaka is also an advisor of Challenge Community Partners, which has the internship program to both Silicon Valley and Malaysis from Japan.

Moreover, Mr. Moriwaka is CMO & Global Manager of Space Systems Laboratory, Kyushu Institute of Technology.
