Dr. Junya Kuribayashi

Junya Kuribayashi graduated from Keio University School of Medicine and started his career as an anaesthesiologist in 1998. He was registered as the Japan Society of Anesthesiologists (JSA) Board Certified Anesthesiologist, and as Fellow of JSA in 2004 and 2009, respectively. While working as a physician, he also begun respiratory center research in 2004. After obtaining a doctoral

degree (Doctor of Medical Sciences) from Keio University in 2009, he continued his research as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Alberta in Canada until he returned to Japan in 2011.

As his interest had subsequently moved on to cardiac anaesthesia especially in transeshopahgeal echocardiography, in 2011 he decided to work at Kokura Memorial Hospital, which is in Kitakyushu City and highly regarded for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Now he serves as Vice Director of Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine in the hospital and tries to establish an operational system for practical use of transeshopahgeal echocardiography there.

Dr. Kuribayashi has passed the examination for transeshopahgeal echocardiography in both Japan (JB-POT) and the US (Advanced PTEeXAM) in 2012 and 2013, respectively.

Recently, he has given a lecture regarding the principles of echocardiography for JB-POT candidates. He is now trying to establish an operational system for the practical use of transeshopahgeal echocardiography in the hospital.
